Check out Larry Harnisch’s piece today on photographer C.C. Pierce, who came to L.A. in 1886 to spend the winter, then spent decades documenting the city’s changing skyline and streetscape.
Pierce’s well-organized archive is so comprehensive that it is nearly impossible to pick up a book or magazine article on early Los Angeles without seeing one of his photos.
